Letzte Änderung am 25-07-2008 durch Steppenhahn ABGESAGT!!2008:Hello to all ultra runners, walkers and supporters of the Colac Six Day Event, It is with great pleasure that on Australia Day (Sunday 27th January), we will officially launch the 2008 Colac Six Day Race and new website. The address is http://www.sixdayrace.com.au/ and it will have all the information that is required such as the date of the event (Monday 3rd November to Sunday 9th November), the venue and also the race entry procedure. The event started 25 years ago but did not run in 1985, 1990, 2006 and 2007 and this year still celebrate its 21st birthday!! I hope you will all be able to join us in what will be a magnificent occasion of ultra running/ walking and entertainment. T.E.A.M hopes that we can put the Colac Six Day Event back on the international map once again and acknowledge one of the ultra worlds greats in Cliff Young. The event will have daily activities to complement the race and it will be known as the “Cliff Young Festival of Sport”. If you have any enquiries please feel free to contact me and if I have emailed you more than once on this list OR you would like to be taken off this list, please email me back and your request will be made. So once again, check out our new web site this Sunday, download an entry form or enter on-line and get it in as soon as possible as fields will be limited. Wer immer 6 Tage lang laufen will und die Möglichkeit hat, nach Australien zu reisen... Zur Historie: November 6th, 1982 saw little known potato farmer Cliff Young running around the Memorial Square in Colac aiming to run 1000 miles in record time. Cliff had spent months getting into peak physical condition training on roads and tracks in the Otway Ranges. Throughout the next long and lonely days he battled heat, wind and the chill during the nights only to abandon his attempt due to injury. Determined to continue running, Cliff entered the Westfield Sydney to Melbourne run in May the next year. That event saw Cliff take the lead toward the final stages and Australia saw the 62 year old shuffle his way to victory in one of the most gruelling ultramarathon races in the world.
