Ultramarathon-Europacup macht am Wörthersee Station
Bereits zum 18. Mal wird der Europacup der Ultramarathons durchgeführt. Heuer ist auch Österreich mit dem Wörthersee Trail einer der sechs Austragungsorte.
Seit 1992 wird jährlich der Europacup der Ultramarathons (ECU) durchgeführt. Seit Beginn sind Veranstaltungs-Highlights wie der bekannte 100km Lauf von Biel (CH), oder auch der Rennsteiglauf (D) fixer Bestandteil dieses Europacups. Heuer ist erstmals auch der Wörthersee Trail einer der sechs Bewerbe dieser Europacup-Serie. „Wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir gleich bei der zweiten Durchführung des Wörthersee Trails Teil der Europacup-Wertung sind“, so Mario Schönherr, Veranstalter des Wörthersee Trails.
Ausschlaggebend waren die erfolgreiche Premiere im September 2009 und die professionelle Organisation, mit denen der Wörthersee Trail die Ansprüche an eine international anerkannte Veranstaltung in der ECU-Wertung erfüllt. Österreich war in der Geschichte dieses Europacups erst mit einem einzigen Lauf dabei, und zwar mit dem Wachau-Ultramarathon (53 km) in den Jahren 2005 bis 2007.
Schon bis zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt (Strand 30.8.) gibt es rund 110 Anmeldungen für den Ultralauf am Wörthersee. Interessantes Detail: Rund 75% der Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer sind NICHT aus Kärnten, sondern aus ganz Österreich, Deutschland, Schweiz, Slowenien, Niederlande.

- 50KM World Trophy Final, Galway Ireland
Dear Friends,
The IAU is organizing its 2nd 50km World Trophy Final on August 29th 2010 in Galway, Ireland.
The race field assembled is one of the fastest 50kers starts list of all times. With seven male athletes having run under 3 hours and another seven female athletes under 3h 40min, the race promises to be an exciting and a fast one.

On a separate but relevant note, September 30 2010 is the deadline to apply for Major IAU Championships for 2012 and 2013. All applications must be submitted by the deadline.

The biannual race around Texel (60K/120K) is scheduled for Easter Monday 25 April 2011. Last saturday the digital entry procedure was opened at http://www.dezestigvantexel.nl/index.php/inschrijven/anmeldeformular
After 3 days, the number of entries for the 60K has already surpassed 200 (maximum 400). The number of entries for the 120K (maximum 40) is 15 but 8 of those still have to qualify. See for the actual standings http://www.inschrijven.nl/dln/texel.html
